<p>Competition at the 2015 European Youth Summer Olympic Festival in Tbilisi got underway on Monday.</p> <p>The city’s brand new Athletics Stadium greeted the sports future stars for the 2000 meter steeplechase.</p> <p>Jasmijn Bakker of the Netherland’s celebrated gold with a time of six minutes and 48 seconds.</p> <p>Russia’s Anastasiia Makhrova claimed silver while Tira Pavuk of Hungary rounded out the podium.</p> <p>Austrian Stefan Schmid meanwhile triumphed in the boys category. </p> <p>The 16-year-old held off the challenge of Matevz Cimermancic of Slovenia to clock a personal best of five minutes and 59.89 seconds.</p> <p>Timothee Mischler of France crossed over to take the Bronze medal.</p> <p>From the track to the Aquatic palace where the first swimming medals were on offer.</p> <p>The conditions were perfect for the outdoor arena.</p> <p>Alexei Sancov of Moldova took full advantage to win gold in the 200 metres freestyle.</p> <p>Germany’s Johannes Hintze took silver and Hungary’s Richard Marton the bronze.</p> <p>Maria Claudia Gadea of Romania enjoyed success in the girls 400m Individual Medley – Britain’s Rebecca Mia Sutton won silver and Germany’s Celine Rieder bronze.</p> <p>Russia celebrated gold in the girls 4×100m Freestyle relay touching home first ahead of Germany while Turkey took Bronze.</p>
