The gig was part of the band’s ‘No Sound Without Silence’ world tour to promote their latest album, which started in January and wraps up in Brazil in September at the Rock in Rio festival
Another highlight of the event was US rock band Kings of Leon’s gig.
The band from Nashville are currently working on their seventh studio album, which they hope to wrap up by the end of the year
At 63, Sting delivered a pitch perfect performance at his sold-out gig, despite a downpour that ended several days of searing heat.
The former Police front man has 16 Grammy awards to his name including ten as a solo artist, and has sold close to 100 million albums worldwide.
He is currently embarked on a 21-date Summer solo tour of Europe.
