Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer in a close fought match to win his third Wimbledon title 7-6(1), 6-7(10), 6-4, 6-3.

The first two sets were decided by tie-breaks with the Serb taking the opener. The Swiss maestro hit back winning the second after Djokovic squandered seven set points.

But Federer, the seven-times champion, failed to use it as a springboard as Djokovic tamed his firepower.

A forehand crosscourt winner after two hours and 56 minutes gave Djokovic victory and drew him level with his coach Boris Becker on three Wimbledon titles.
