Carli Lloyd and Kelley O’Hara fired the United States passed European Champions Germany and into their fourth Women’s World Cup final.
It was a hard-fought semi-final encounter in Montreal, Canada.
After Germany striker Celia Sasic missed a penalty on 58 minutes USA skipper Lloyd kept her composure to score from the spot 10 minutes later.
Stars and Stripes substitute O’Hara however booked her side’s ticket to the final six minutes from time sealing a 2-0 victory.
They are now one more win away from a record third title.
In Monday’s final in Vancouver the Olympic champions will play either England or Japan who meet this evening.
