Russia claimed the men’s beach football gold medal adding to their huge medal haul on the last day of the inaugural European Games in Baku.

The Russians were the runaway winners of the competition with 79 golds in total.

The hosts Azerbaijan have 21 while Great Britain are third with 18.

It was France who reigned supreme on the Judo mats however.

In the womens team event they took on Germany where three quick fire-victories took a cumulative time of just 35 seconds.

In the men’s event France dominated the favourites Georgia. Loic Pietri claimed the decisive third straight victory against Avtandili Tchrikishvili in the -81kg event.

Word number nine Simone Christensen of Denmark won the women’s BMX final, racing to gold in a time of 37.074 seconds.

Magalie Pottier of France took silver and Czech Aneta Hladikova took bronze all within a few tenths of the winner.
