Hundreds of thousands of people have taken part in one of the world’s biggest gay pride events in the Brazilian city of Sao Paulo.

This year’s theme was “ I was born this way, I grew up this way, I’m always going to be this way, respect me” as activists demanded rights for the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community.

The parade is also a big money-spinner for the city with tourists estimated to spend the equivalent of 18 million euros over the week of festivities which started last week.
