The FIE Cadet and Junior World Championships came to a close on Thursday.

Italy continued their fine showing in Tashkent Uzbekistan winning the first final of the day.

The junior men’s team stuck gold in the foil discipline beating China 45-31.

Having survived a tight tussle with the USA in the semis, South Korea’s men’s sabre team were pushed again all the way in the showpiece match by Russia.

After a tense finale the Koreans edged out their rivals 45-43 to claim gold.

The Italian contingent was celebrating another gold medal later in the day when their ladies’ Epee team beat Russia to the top of the podium.

The contest ended 45-35 and completed a clean sweep for Italy of all the ladies team events at the championships.
