Volvo Ocean Race: Abu Dhabi sail to leg five victory

<p>Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing won leg five of the Volvo Ocean Race on Monday.</p> <p>Skipper Ian Walker and his crew completed the 6,776 nautical mile leg from Auckland, New Zealand to Itajai, Brazil in 18 days 23 hours 30 minutes 10 seconds.</p> <p>It was the team’s second win in the 12th edition of the race following their leg one triumph from Spain to South Africa.</p> <p>Abu Dhabi lead the round-the-world race by seven points from Chinese syndicate Dongfeng, who failed to finish after their mast broke 200 nautical miles from Cape Horn the fifth leg.</p> <p>After winning the previous leg Mapfre, skippered by Spaniard Iker Martínez, sailed across the line in second place.</p> <p>They were just 32 minutes behind highlighting the tightly contested leg.</p> <p>The sixth of nine legs begins on April 19 and will take the fleet from Itajai to Newport in Rhode Island.</p>
