Roger Federer was left stunned when he was lobbed by a young lad after his opponent handed the youngster his racquet.

The Swiss player was playing Grigor Dimitrov in the BNP Parisbas Showdown in New York, when the Bulgarian offered the young boy in a hoodie the chance to play a point.

The lad strode confidently on to the court and returned the serve of Federer with a forehand.

After trading a few points he lobbed Federer to leave the 17-time grand slam winner biting his shirt in embarrassment.

Dimitrov went on to win the match 6-2, 1-6, 7-5.
