The chips are down – for PCs. The International Data Corporation predicted a drop in demand.
Almost 309 million PCs made it out of the factory last year but just over 293 million will do so this year. The American research company expects a further drop to around 290 million by 2019.
The market for tablets has not grown as rapidly as expected with just 4.8 million more predicted to leave the factories this year.
Earlier this week Intel lowered its revenue forecast for the first quarter of its fiscal 2015 by nearly a billion dollars citing a weaker than expected PC market.
