The Greek government has suspended the country’s top football league indefinitely in an attempt to crack down on violence.

The action follows weekend clashes between Olympiakos and Panathinaikos fans, and a brawl between club officials at a board meeting of league organisers on Tuesday.

The Greek league has already been suspended twice this season because of football-related violence. Newly-elected ruling party Syriza have pledged to stamp out the problem.
