Holders Real Madrid took control of their last-16 Champions League tie with Schalke.

Basel 1 – 1 Porto

Gonzalez gave Basel a first-half lead, but went off injured.

Referee Mark Clattenburg, who booked nine players during the match, ruled out a goal by Porto midfielder Casemiro.

Clattenburg also awarded a controversial late penalty allowing Danilo to score – bringing the game to a close at 1-1.
