Clermont’s fly-half Camille Lopez proved to be Phillippe Saint-Andre’s match-winner with five penalties.

Elsewhere, England came from behind to beat Wales 21-16 at the Millennium Stadium while Ireland got their title defence off to a flying start with an emphatic 26-3 win over Italy in Rome.
