A man armed with a pistol has entered the studies of the Dutch national broadcaster NOS and demanded to allowed on air.

He was confronted by armed police and forced to drop his weapon.

It is believed the man threatened a guard to gain access to the studios based in Hilversum near Amsterdam.

His motive remains unclear, but the footage shows him saying “ The things that are going to be said, are very large world affairs. We were hired by the security services.”

No shots were fired in the incident and the man is in police detention.
