Kenny G is releasing his 14th studio album. ‘==Brazilian Nights==’ is a tribute to bossa nova – a blend of samba and jazz, which is very popular in the South American country his album is named after.

“Bossa nova was something that I knew I wanted to work,” said the American musician. “Because I really like the way bossa nova sounds. I like the way those old jazz masters were playing certain licks, certain runs, certain chord changes. And I really like the way that sax sounds through that. So I thought, OK, I want to challenge myself to get this down.”

As well as recognisable bossa nova tunes such as ‘Corcovado’ and ‘Girl From Ipanema’ the album features several of the 58-year-old’s own compositions.

“I might listen to the old-school jazz guys because that’s good for technique, and I practice things like that a lot,” he said. “But when it comes to writing and playing my music, I just kind of lock my door.”

Kenny G debuted back in 1982. Since then, he has sold more than 75 million records. ‘Brazilian Nights’ is out in January.
