The Ebola outbreak in West Africa appears to be slowing down, according to the UN special envoy on the virus, but he added the battle was far from over.

The disease which has already claimed more than 8,000 lives has registered lower numbers of fresh cases in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone as treatment and prevention methods take effect.
