Manchester City and Ivory Coast midfielder Yaya Toure has been named African Footballer of the Year for a record fourth consecutive time.

He is the only player to have achieved this feat.

Samuel Eto’o is the only other player to have won four times but not successively.

This year Toure beat Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang of Gabon and Nigeria goalkeeper Vincent Enyeama following a poll of the coaches and captains of Africa’s National teams.

Toure scored 20 goals to help Man City regain the Premier League title and also proved instrumental in his club’s League Cup crown.
