David Cameron has hinted that a possible future referendum on Britain’s EU membership could take place earlier than planned.

The prime minister said he’d be “delighted” if it happened before the end of 2017, the date promised by his Conservative Party if it wins this year’s elections.

Cameron has pledged to renegotiate Britain’s ties with the EU.
