Xerox is selling its information technology outsourcing division – which has nearly 10,000 employees in 45 countries – to French IT services firm Atos.
The price is $1.05 (855 million euros).
The US company is getting rid of it to focus on faster-growing areas like business process outsourcing and document outsourcing.
Atos said the deal would triple its size in the US and boost earnings.
Xerox, best known as a maker of printers and copiers, is moving towards services as companies print fewer documents and as tablets and smartphones start to dominate personal computing.
