'HIV virus less deadly' - new scientific study

HIV, the virus which causes AIDS, is evolving into a less deadly infection – that’s according to a study by scientists at Oxford University.

The findings suggest that although still potent, it was taking longer for those infected with HIV to go on the develop AIDS.

Together with more effective drugs, the pandemic
appears to be slowing down.

Some 35 million people worldwide currently have HIV and AIDS has killed around 40 million people since it began spreading 30 years ago.
