Shares in Royal Mail have dropped some 8 percent after the company claimed that rivals, such as Amazon, were biting into its parcel delivery arm.
The boss of Royal Mail, Moya Greene, said the tougher environment was threatening the the company’s ability to deliver letters to all parts of the UK.
Royal Mail posted a small fall in pre-tax profits to the equivalent of €272m down from €291m for the same period last year.
In the past six months the company saw its parcel division revenues fall by one percent.
