Dutchman wins footgolf's inaugural Europa Cup

Ever fancied a kick about on a golf course? Well since 2009 footgolf has been going from strength to strength, so you could be in luck.

Over the weekend the first ever Europa Cup footgolf tournament took place on the Costa del Sol in southern Spain.

Despite the occasional sideways glance from the sceptical local golfers it turned out to be a hit and the sport itself continues to gain backing by courses all over the world.

Dutchman Bjorn Bulk – footgolf’s equivalent of Lionel Messi – won the first edition of the event adding that crown to his unofficial world championship title.

Italy meanwhile won the team event beating Ireland, Hungary, Holland, hosts Spain and Portugal.
