Italy and Croatia’s euro 2016 qualifier on Sunday evening was overshadowed by crowd trouble in Milan.

The match – that ended one all – was temporarily halted on two occasions due to numerous flares being thrown onto the pitch.

After a brief suspension in the first half the referee ordered the players off the field on 70 minutes when more flares and fireworks were hurled to the pitch.

Italian riot police entered the Croatia section to try to restore order and according to reports 17 Croatian fans were arrested.
