Israel beefs up security on Arafat anniversary

Israel has stepped up security in major cities and the West Bank as Palestinians mark 10 years since the death of their iconic leader Yasser Arafat.

The increased measures come after two deadly attacks on Monday when a Palestinian stabbed a 20-year-old Israeli soldier at a crowded Tel Aviv train station.

The soldier later died of his wounds.

CCTV footage showed a stabbing at a bus stop on the same day in the West Bank during which a 24-year-old Israeli woman died.

A day later, a 22-year-old Palestinian was killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank city of Hebron following clashes between IDF soldiers and locals.

Stone throwing protests have erupted in several Arab towns in Israel since Saturday when police killed an Arab youth who they say assaulted them.
