Lukas Irmler from Germany had the sort of view of the famous Victoria Falls in Zimbabwe that not everyone would want. He crossed them bare foot on a high wire. The 26-year-old student and professional tightrope walker took two years preparing for the challenge.
He was joined in the feat by Reinhard Kleindl. It took the pair several months to get permission from authorities to make the crossing. After that it was just a case of them holding their nerves.
“You need to be focussed on the anchor point to the very end and not get distracted by a lot of water crashing by the side,” remarked Irmler after the successful crossing.
