Technical glitch hampers vote in Virginia

The US midterm elections may be tense but problems with technology aren’t helping

A video has appeared on social media which shows an electronic voting machine glitch.

The voter who was in Virginia tried to put his cross next to Republican Scott Rigell, but when he selected Rigell’s name Democratic candidate Suzanne Patrick’s name popped up instead.

Rigell promptly sent an email to supporters warning them of the problem which was also discovered in two other polling stations within the state.

Poll workers later advised people to touch above the box if they wished to select the Republican.
