Istanbul is on high alert after envelopes containing an unidentified yellow powder were sent to several consulates in the city.
The envelopes were sent to the US, Canadian, Belgian and German consulates in the city
Euronews correspondent Bora Bayraktar reported from the German consulate in the city: “The samples have been taken by experts to be analysed. The area has been disinfected and the staff are having health checks.”
Turkey’s disaster management agency said that nine people across Istanbul had been hospitalised as a precaution.
One Canadian consulate employee came into direct contact with one of the envelopes and six others had indirect exposure.
Canadian consulates and embassies overseas have been on heightened alert this week after two attacks in Canada.
