European football’s governing body Uefa on Thursday began a closed-door disciplinary hearing over the violence which halted last week’s Euro 2016 qualifier between Serbia and Albania in Belgrade.
A drone that flew over the pitch bearing an Albanian nationalist flag over the pitch during the game soon caused chaos.
After a Serbian player dragged the flag – and the drone – to the ground a mass tussle broke out including players from both sides as well and home fans and officials.
The game was later abandoned.
Uefa’s nine-member disciplinary panel is expected to hand down punishments on Friday with sanctions ranging from fines to a tournament expulsion.
