The Nokia name is to disappear from the Lumia range of phones which will be rebranded as Microsoft Lumia.
This comes after the software giant bought the phone part of the Finnish firm in April.
The announcement was made first on the Nokia France Facebook page, and reportedly other countries will follow in phasing out the brand.
This will not affect the rump of Nokia which was not bought by Microsoft, that is its networking, mapping and licensing businesses
Former Microsoft boss Steve Ballmer speaking on CBS TV this week said buying Nokia was a “tough” and “big decision” and he also admitted the company is not exactly “winning” when it comes to mobile.
