German giants Bayern Munich produced a superb display to thump AS Roma 7-1 at the Stadio Olimpico on Tuesday.
Arjen Robben, Mario Götze, Robert Lewandowski,Thomas Müller, Franck Ribéry and Xherdan Shaqiri each struck to earn the Bavarians all three points while Manchester City were held to a frustrating 2-2 draw by CSKA Moscow.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side were 2-0 up before the interval but lost their composure in the second half with Seydou Doumbia and Bebars Natcho both on target to salvage a point for the Russians on home soil.
In group F, Paris Saint Germain retained top spot with a narrow 1-0 win over Apoel while Barcelona outclassed Ajax 3-1 at the Camp Nou.
Elsewhere, Chelsea hammered Maribor 6-0 thanks to goals from Loic Remy, Didier Drogba, John Terry and Eden Hazard while FC Porto needed a late strike from Ricardo Quaresma to edge out Athletic Bilbao 2-1 at the Estadio do Dragão.
