A former aide of Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet has been arrested.
Cristian Labbe , a retired colonel who later became mayor of Santiago has been charged in connection with an investigation into human rights crimes during the 1973-1990 dictatorship.
Nine other former military members and police officers are also facing prosecution.
Chile’s Interior ministry has asked for Labbe to be prosecuted for homicide, kidnapping, torture and unlawful association.
