Judo Grand Prix Tashkent gets underway

The 2014 Judo Grand Prix in Tashkent, Uzbekistan got underway on Thursday.

In a lung-busting contest Belgian Judoka Charline Van Snick beat Turkey’s Sumeyye Akkus in the -48 kilo title fight.

It was the olympic bronze medallist’s first victory of the season.

Two World silver medallists battled it out in the -52 kilo class.

Andreea Chitu of Romania defeated Tsolmon Adiyasambuu of Mongolia to strike gold.

Chitu by virtue of fewer shido penalties.

26-year-old Amartuvshin Dashdavaa of Mongolia reigned supreme in the men’s under 60 kilo class.

The 2013 World Silver medallist immobilized home judoka Diyorbek Urozboev for ippon.
