Slovenia has nominated a new candidate for the next European Commission.
Violeta Bulc is the Slovenian government’s new name for a top EU job.
The 50-old development minister will now have to meet with the incoming European Commission chief, Jean-Claude Juncker.
Bulc’s nomination comes after Alenka Bratusek pulled out of the race.
She had come under fire from MEPs, who said she was not up to the job of being the new EU energy union chief.
Commission President-elect Jean-Claude Juncker will have to decide whether he assigns Bulc the same portfolio, or whether to reshuffle his pack before seeking the European Parliament’s approval.
A vote on the Juncker Commission as a whole is set for October 22nd.
