Shoppers queued for up to two hours at a Moscow department store selling tee-shirts emblazoned with images of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who turned 62 on Tuesday.
Despite mounting international criticism, Putin still enjoys widespread support from voters in Russia.
“You can wear one if you want and everyone will see that you support what is happening in our country,” said Pavel, who was buying a selection of Putin shirts at the GUM store near the capital’s Red Square.
A Russian children’s band filmed a video congratulating the country’s president on his birthday.
The song entitled “Happy Birthday, the President of Russia!” was written especially for the occasion.
