Iceland: dangerous lava flow threatens highland road

The lava flow from the Holuhraun eruption in Iceland is 200 metres away from flowing over the Gæsavatnaleid highland road. On Wednesday about 40 earthquakes were registered in the northern part of the Vatnajokull glacier, the biggest one in the Bardarbung volcano caldera registered 5.2. There is no indication that the eruption in Holuhraun is declining as the lava flow continues to increase, now covering 40 square kilometres.
