Pope Francis will address the European Parliament in November, EU officials have announced.
The last time an incumbent pontiff addressed the assembly was in 1988 when Pope John Paul the Second spoke in front of MEPs.
“The EU is in a difficult moment, from the social and economic point of view, the Ukraine crisis, immigration and values. We’ll be sure that the Pope will have a lot to say about those subjects,” said European Parliament spokesman Jaume Duch.
The Pope’s speech will take place at the European Parliament in Strasbourg, France on November the 25th.
