Organisers of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar are confident the tournament will be ready in time to host FIFA’s flagship event despite question marks still hanging over the tournament’s kickoff dates.
Media director Nasser Al Khater insisted the construction of their state of the art Stadiums is progressing very well and are going according to schedule whatever time of year is decided.
He said: “Our position from the beginning was we will be ready to host the World Cup whenever the international football community decides is the best time to host the World Cup. Whether that be summer, whether that be winter, fall, spring, we will be ready. As long as the decision made has the concensus of the international community, we will be ready.”
The scorching summers in Qatar have raised many concerns over the health and wellbeing of the players.
And this week FIFA offered January and November as alternative kickoff dates following a first meeting of their Task Force which has been set up to decide at which time of year the competition should be held.
