Poland’s parliamentary speaker Ewa Kopacz is set to become the country’s next prime minister.
President Komorowski is expected to ask her to form a government once Donald Tusk has resigned following his election as President of the European Council.
Kopacz will also take over leadership of the ruling Civic Platform Party.
She will not be Poland’s first woman premier. That position was held by Hanna Suchocka who served as prime minister between 1992 and 1993 under the presidency of Lech Wałęsa.
