William and Kate 'thrilled' over new royal pregnancy

Britain’s royal family say they are delighted with the news that Prince William and his wife Kate are expecting their second baby.

It follows the birth of Prince George in July last year.

As she did during her last pregnancy, Kate is suffering from an acute sickness, and stayed at home while her husband opened a new China study centre at Oxford University.

“It’s been a tricky few days – week or so – but obviously we’re basically thrilled, it’s great news, and early days, we’re hoping things settle down and she feels a bit better. It’s important that we focus on the big news and the big international and domestic news going on at the moment, so that’s where my thoughts are at the moment, so I’m going to go and look after her now,” Prince William told reporters.

Kate is being treated by doctors at Kensington Palace in London.

Whether the duchess will be well enough to attend upcoming events, which include a planned trip to Malta next week, will be decided case by case.

The birth of Prince George, and his first public appearances since, have attracted massive worldwide interest.

The new baby, who will be fourth in line to the British throne, can expect similar attention.
