Another double for Mercedes in Formula 1 has left fans with a feeling of déjà vu

Lewis Hamilton’s shocking start at Monza didn’t prevent him from celebrating his sixth win of the season. The Englishman had sunk from pole position to fourth by the first turn. It took him twenty nine laps to claw back to first place, assisted by a bad mistake made by teammate Nico Rosberg.

The German finished second, while third place went to Felipe Massa, who hadn’t had a podium finish since May 2013.

Italian fans’ support for Ferrari quickly turned to tears when Fernando Alonso was forced to abandon with engine problems. It was the first time he failed to finish a race this season.

Mistake aside, Rosberg still leads the drivers standings. Daniel Ricciardo placed fifth and waved goodbye to his dream.

In the constructor standings, Williams stole third place from Ferrari.
