Two people have died in an explosion that rocked an apartment block in the French capital causing a partial building collapse.
Rescue workers said the victims were an elderly woman and a small child.
Twelve people have been pulled out of the debris alive. Four of those were seriously injured.
Around ten other people remain unaccounted for.
Rescuers believe they may be trapped, however it has not yet been determined whether the missing people were home at the time of the blast which occured at around 7 a.m. CET on Sunday morning (August 31).
Television images of the building in the Paris suburb of Rosny-sous-Bois showed one side completely ripped off exposing what remains of many destroyed homes.
The explosion is thought to have been sparked by a gas leak.
As rescue efforts continue, an investigation into blast has begun.
