A nine-year-old girl has accidentally shot dead her firearms instructor in America as her parents filmed the lesson.
Charles Vacca, 39, was showing her how to use an Uzi machine gun at the "Bullets and Burgers" range in Arizona when it was switched to automatic.
The recoil caused the weapon to rotate, he was shot in the head and died later in hospital in Las Vegas.
The section of the video which was released by police did not show the accident itself, described as “ghastly” by Mohave County Sheriff Jim McCabe as reported in the Las Vegas Review Journal.
The shooting range, about 40 kilometres south of Las Vegas, invites visitors to come in and fire “a wide range of fully automatic machine guns and specialty weapons” before enjoying a meal.
Gun training for children, sometimes as young as seven or eight years old, is not uncommon in the States.
