Poland’s interior minister has begun giving evidence in an inquiry into allegations of abuse of power.
In a secretly recorded conversation Bartlomiej Sienkiewicz allegedly struck a deal with Poland’s central bank chief over support for the government’s economic policy.
It is alleged bank governor Marek Belka said he would back the government in return for the ousting of the then finance minister.
The scandal has threatened Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s government.
