Islamic State (IS) militants have released a video purporting to show the beheading of a US journalist.
The individual was named by an IS member as James Foley who went missing in Syria nearly two years ago.
Foley’s military brother was mentioned in a denouncement of the West.
The man carrying out the execution apparently spoke with a British accent.
The militants said they were taking revenge for recent US air strikes against the Islamic State group in Iraq.
The footage claimed to have been released by the IS also shows another prisoner identified by the militants as American reporter Steven Sotloff
