At least 180 killed in flooding and landslides in India and Nepal

Floods and landslides in northern India and Nepal have left at least 180 people dead.

Thousands more have been marooned in villages in Uttar Pradesh state, where water from overflowing dams in neighbouring Nepal has added to the impact of heavy rains in the Himalayas.

A lack of rain earlier in the June-September monsoon season had led to fears of drought, but this month all that has changed.
