Body of sixth French mountaineer found in Alps

The body of a sixth French mountaineer has been found on Europe’s highest mountain Mont Blanc.

Rescue workers had already found the bodies of the other five members of the group.

They had been reported missing after a night of heavy snow and wind.

August is the height of the climbing season on Mont Blanc, where fierce storms can strike suddenly.

Mont Blanc touches France, Switzerland and Italy, and thousands try to reach its summit each year.

Six other climbers lost their lives on Mont Blanc in the space of just two weeks last month.
