Nine die in China floods

At least nine people were killed and 11 others are missing after heavy rains lashed southwest China.

So far 3,120 people have had to be evacuated for safety reasons.

Twenty-five homes have been washed away and 42 others seriously damaged.

Meanwhile, the weather bureau has warned that strong rains will sweep the quake-hit zone in Yunnan Province, raising the risk of more flooding and landslides.

A 6.5-magnitude quake rocked the southwestern province on August 3, leaving at least 617 people dead.
