Muslims across the globe are marking the end of Ramadan with Eid al-Fitr or the Feast of Ending the Fast.

During Eid Muslims are obliged to donate to the poor and needy and show happiness.

In Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai sent a message of support to the people in Gaza: “Today we, the Muslim world, especially the people of Afghanistan, remember the people of Palestine, in Gaza, who are suffering such brutality. They are being killed night and day,” he said.

In Damascus Basher al-Assad made his first appearance in public since being sworn in for a third-term as president.

Despite the ongoing violence in Syria Assad prayed at a Damascus mosque with the country’s grand mufti, Mohammad Hassoun.

In Bangladesh people packed the trains and boats to visit friends and family to share in the three-day feast.
