The Argentine Tennis Association (AAT) has requested a change in venue for its Davis Cup playoff tie against Israel citing concerns over the growing conflict in Gaza.
According to reports two options have been put on the table in teh case a venue switch is granted.
One being that Israel gives up home advantage and Argentina will do the same in the future or the venue is changed to Greece or Cyprus.
President of the AAT Arturo Grimaldi said: “The home advantage is very important and also to live through a situation like this, I’m really very sorry for the Israelies, so my desire is that everything gets better and we can play in Israel because it is where it is supposed to take place.”
Argentina have played the final of the Davis Cup on four occasions and lost all four.
The last of which came in 2011 – the 100th edition of the event – when they were defeated by Spain in Sevilla.
Argentina’s tie with Israel is scheduled for September.
