After guiding his side to a stunning World Cup quarter-final finish this summer Jorge Luis Pinto has quit as coach of Costa Rica citing differences with the country’s football federation.
With the 61-year-old Colombian at the helm Costa Rica enjoyed their most successful ever World Cup in Brazil, reaching the last eight for the very first time but going out on penalties to the Netherlands.
According to reports Pinto and the federation failed to reach an agreement on a new contract.
He had been the Ticos manager since 2011.
